The interweb is abuzz with the new iPad and the impending line in the sand that Apple is drawing regarding Flash Player support.
Hi, I used to be a PC, and am now a Mac, and proud of it!
I recently purchased a Mac and had about 3 weeks to get used to it. I thought, considering the press event that is scheduled for Wednesday, I would go over some of the benefits that I have noticed in my Mac compared to my PC. As well, I will cover some of the rumors that hopefully will be set straight on Wednesday. I am not going to go through all the technical stuff. All the points that I bring up in this blog are from personal experience up to now.
When I was in theatre school, my teachers would always tell me, "know your audience." Years later, when I became involved with digital media and content creation for the web, the mantra was "know your audience." Tonight we spent a delightful 90 minutes discussing "Content Strategy for the Web" with its author Kristina Halvorson.
Something that many people have problems with is organizing thoughts and ideas. For me, as a student digital media designer, this happens ALL the time. I have found a very interesting program that allows me to break through the clutter in my bran without robbing me of my freedom to work creatively. This program is called Freemind.
We are excited to announce that our application to run a new diploma program has been accepted!
Starting in April, Guru Digital Arts College will offer the Interaction Design and Game Level Development Diploma alongside its current flagship Digital Media Production Diploma. This new program will focus on the skills and knowledge used by Interaction Designers and Game Level Developers.
Today marks the end of the 2009 school year here at Guru. More importantly, today is Graduation Day for our 15th student intake. It's been a long and trying six months, but our stalwart digital disciples have risen to the challenge, proving that they are worthy of being called Gurus. Congratulations, guys! You've earned it.
On behalf of all of the faculty at Guru, I'd like to wish our graduates, our friends and everybody else out there a happy, safe and creative holiday season. See you in 2010!
There's an old cliche about creative types being heavy drinkers. It's not entirely accurate, but there's a little bit of truth to it. A still drink really does help make social situations more comfortable, that's for sure. With this thought in mind, I hope you'll join us for on December 16th for Startup Drinks Edmonton, a Digital Alberta initiative that combines networking with light alcohol. How can you go wrong?
Full details are as follows, taken from Digital Alberta:
Well, that's debatable, but it's certainly one for the record books.
1) What motivated you to come to Guru?
I spent this last month studying in Tokyo, and while I was there, I had a chance to visit a Toyota design exhibit. I thought I would throw together a quick blog today showcasing some interesting Japanese product design. The principles of design still apply, but the needs of the Japanese people have lead to some interesting developments.
